It's on! (25 weeks, 3 days)

2:14 pm CST January 19, 2008
OK-- so here's something they don't tell you in those pregnancy books: TIME FLIES WHEN YOU ARE PREGNANT! Seriously- where did the time go? Seeing how it's now almost the end of January- that means only three months left until Gavin gets here! It's like Christmas Eve- only 1,000 times better and drawn out over 90 days. (so I guess it's not really like Christmas Eve-- but whatever. I'm pregnant. I say what I want) :)

Oh yeah, and while I'm on it...here are some other things those books don't tell you (WARNING: not for the faint of heart):

  • You pee sometimes when you sneeze. Yes, it happens. No, I didn't know about it. Yes, it's hysterically funny when it happens.
  • Your nose bleeds like a leaky facuet. I feel like I have had a 6-month cold, but without the benefit of being able to take cold medicine.
  • HEARTBURN= OUCH! So, I have acid reflux anyway without baby...but pregnancy heartburn is one of the worst feelings in the world. For those of you who want to experience the joy-- it's like swallowing cinnamon-flavored Pop Rocks without washing it down with liquid. Only, your mouth doesn't make that cool popping sound.
  • You know how in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" the answer to all problems was to spray Windex? Well, apparently the answer to all problems in pregnancy is drink more water. Granted, I drink about 2 liters a day as it is (which, by the way, is a great amount). But, tell people you have heartburn, trouble sleeping, etc etc and the solution is to drink more water.
  • Pregnancy workout videos are HEAVEN! Seriously, amazing. The second you find out you're pregnant-- RUN RUN and buy one. Or sign up for a prenatal yoga class (I'm taking one next month)- seriously, they help you have more energy, less back pain, and an overall positive feeling about everything.
  • People can be very insensitive to pregnant people. (and no it's not because we're hormonal and overreact to things). Case in point: someone in my family told me I was FAT. It's called pregnancy, jack ass. OK, so here's the whole story: I have gained 8 pounds to date...which is not bad at all. So, I was telling said jack ass in the family- and their response..."that's all? It definitely looks like more."
  • Putting your hand on your stomach and feeling your baby move is one of the most peaceful experiences ever. I can't wait to meet my son!
  • So, I have been quite the slacker on this blog as of late. But, the school semester started- so on top of working full time (actually full time + right now...it's a busy rime, which means a lot of extra hours), I have started my two grad classes for the Spring semester. I am taking two online classes, because I am due during finals week and didn't really want to be sitting in class taking an exam when my water breaks. I'd rather be sitting at home in front of my computer taking an exam when my water breaks. (OH MY GOD- my water is going to break in a couple of months!)

Gavin is definitely starting to make my womb into a home for him. I think he has been nailing up pictures and rearranging his furniture this week, because he is kicking and moving around like crazy! I LOVE IT! It is the coolest thing in the world to see the little guy moving around. And he's about 10 inches long now and weighs about 1 1/2 pounds. So he's big enough for Steve to see him moving around too! Gavin loves to hear his Daddy's voice and starts break dancing when Steve gets home from Fire Academy at night and talks to him.

And...yes, I'm adding some pictures on this blog.

    Here I am at 24 weeks, 3 days. (NOT fat...pregnant) ;)

Our two dogs who have decided it's their job to keep an eye on me. Murphy (the cocker spaniel) likes to follow me around everywhere now to make sure I'm ok. And Guinness (the little Cavalier King Charles) likes to sit near my belly and keep the baby warm. ;)
