Abraham's 1st Birthday!
3:49 am CDT June 28, 2011
Sweet Baby Abey,
You are a precious joy, and we all are in awe of your sweet nature and strong character! Today my heart is so full. It is unbelievable how One's heart truly grows with each addition to the family! In less than one year of your life, you have lived in Charleston, SC, Washington DC, and Rabat, Morocco! You have taught me to relax and love my family amongst the chaos around us. You can say Mama, Dada, Bye Bye, Uh-Oh (used a lot around here), A Boo (as in peek a boo), Ickle (as in Tickle..G taught you that one), Lis (as in Riglis, Ghita's Dog), and Un Uh (as in no). However, you love to shake your head and your finger, say Un Uh, and do it anyways. You sign More and All Done (sometimes), and you absolutely love to eat. For the most part, you are a fairly quiet baby until you see food. I think bananas are your favorite, since you grunt like a wild monkey every time you see one! I can already see how you admire your big brother, and I love watching you play together.... you are one tough baby! You are growing to love books as I now see you studying each page. You love your daddy too and say dada all day long. However, you are a momma's boy at heart! You love to cuddle and nurse, but you are growing more independent by the minute! You're not in too big of a hurry to walk, but you are taking a good 8 steps before resorting to the one legged crawl. You love to clap & dance and have already developed some pretty awesome moves. Abraham, I pray that you grow to be a strong man of God. I delight in your presence, and I am so proud to be your mama!
I Love You,
Mommy
Our dear friend, Ghita, hosted Abraham's 1st birthday at her beach house. We are so thankful to her and to all of our new friends for coming out to celebrate! We have known you all for only a few weeks, and we greatly appreciate your kindness.
Look at this patio view...
We bought these adorable, Moroccan outfits for the boys in the Rabat Medina, which is a vibrant, outdoor market in the center of the city.
The kids (and the adults) didn't even wait to sing Happy Birthday before diving into the cupcakes that Nizo made. Merci Nizo!
Merci, Ghita, for making this delicious cake! The candles spell Happy Birthday in French, Joyeux Anniversaire!
How many 1 year olds get to hear Happy Birthday sung to them 3 times in 3 different languages? English, French & Arabic...it was truly unforgettable... for mom and dad that is. We'll have to remind Abraham of this special birthday as he grows older.
Merci for the adorable gifts! Honestly, your presence is the best gift of all!
Ma Salama & Shukran! Au Revoir & Merci! Goodbye & Thank You!
