Charleston Birth Place

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14 Pictured below is the birth of our beautiful son.

The belly button couldn't be contained this time!

We arrived at the Birth Place on June 17th at 2:30 in the afternoon after the contractions were 5 minutes apart for an hour.

I started on the birthing ball, but the contractions were not progressing. I was a wapping 6 cm dilated, the contractions were consistently 5 min apart for 4 more hours and I was able to comfortably walk around! Our midwife explained that this could possibly go on for days, so we decided to go home.....

Jamil grabbed one of the books on his nightstand to document the timing of my contractions. Notice the title. The poor guy had to miss a couple of World Cup games and didn't complain once! ;)

We returned early the next morning at 4:30 (after what you can image was an uncomfortable night of sleep). :) The contractions were much more intense, so we moved to the awesome birthing tub. Here Judy is spraying me with cold water and lavender.... amazing!

Jamil was the best partner I could have ever asked for! This was truly a beautiful team effort!

Baby didn't seem too interested in the water birth idea, so we moved to the bed.

Jamil moved behind me to help hold up my legs. Here we are looking at the top of the baby's head with a mirror. It was so encouraging and a huge motivator at this point!
