They are here!!!

Well, since babies are sleeping and mama got a little sleep last night I thought I would take the chance to update this blog. Not to mention I'm proud to show of my little darlings.
Everything is going great here. The delivery was not exactly what we expected though. It was actually very emotional for me, but in the end we have two very healthy and happy baby boys. Here's the condensed version of the delivery for those of you that have been asking how everything went. We went to the hospital at 5:30 to get prepped and ready for the C-Section. Everything was going great and the anesthesiologist came in to ask me a million questions. There was a look of concern and some risks because of the back surgery and steroid epidurals that I had had. (Not sure why I didn't think about this before) Widmar is getting suited up at this point in his bunny suit and I'm wheeled off to the operating room. 25 minutes later, after a lot of pain and poking around in my back to get the spinal to take they think they have hit the right spot. Things started moving very fast from here. The nurses moved my legs over the top of the table, which caused me some concern as I told the doctors that I could have moved my own legs because I felt everything. They said it could take a few minutes and they waited and waited and then did some “can you feel this tests”. I could. Needless to say at this point I was a little nervous, ok maybe very nervous and upset. I tried to hold my composure because I like to think I’m tough. Then the anesthesiologist said they were going to have to put me to sleep because they couldn’t get the spinal to work. (I realized this the next day when mom and Widmar told me I had 12-15 dots on my back from where they had put the needle in so many times). I really wanted to see Widmar before they did this so they let him in just to kiss me and let me know he was ok. One thing I was excited about was hearing the first cries and letting Widmar be in there to see the babies. I was more upset about Widmar not being able to experience it. From this point on, I remember nothing. I woke up in the labor and delivery room just as Widmar was wheeling in the babies. It was quiet the emotional event and the only thing I can remember saying was that I loved them and Oh My Gosh when mom told me how big they were. Joshua a whopping 7lbs 11oz 20 ½ inches long and Jacob 7lbs 10oz and 19 inches long. No wonder I was HUGE. As my sister has quoted me saying in my drug induced state. “It wasn’t that bad, I went to sleep, I woke up and I had two babies” It was all worth it in the end to have our two little, I mean big, healthy baby boys.
Everyone was very healthy after this whole experience and they actually predicted I would be out of the hospital a couple days later (Thursday), and I was. The hospital stay was less than desirable for the most part. I had a horrible nurse at one point and really who would like to sit in a bed instead of get up and take care of their babies.
So, now we are home, I think we are on day 4 at home. The first day we had the boys’ first pediatrician appointment, we were late. We got in the car and just laughed as Widmar said “day 1”. The nurses laughed at us because we were 10 minutes late to the appointment, I guess they expect that when you are a first time parent and especially when you have two babies.
The boys are such good babies. They already have their own personalities and it’s been really fun and exciting watching them. They have yet to latch on so I am pumping after their feedings so they at least get the milk. That’s what is most important to me. They feed about every 3-4 hours and then sleep in between. Yesterday we had our first tummy time and there are some pictures below of that. It was pretty funny to watch them interact together. We are dealing with two poopers for sure though. They poop before, after, and sometimes during feedings. Sometimes when we are lucky, like last night and this morning, they even poop in the middle of us changing their poopy diaper. We just laugh in the end because there is nothing you can do. They are awake a lot for newborns and very alert. They love to snuggle with whoever is holding them. They are absolutely perfect!
We have been blessed with the help of my parents. They even took the babies last night for their late feeding and let us sleep a couple of hours before bringing them into the room. I had to remind myself that they raised three children and they are fully capable of taking care of them. I was nervous that they weren’t in the room with us. It’s a mommy thing, I think. But we have to take advantage of it because it’s not everyday someone will be here to help us out and let us have a little sleep. They have been wonderful and the boys already love their Grammie and Grampa.
All in all things are going great here. It's amazing how much love we have for these little boys. I often find myself just staring at them and admiring what God has brought into this world. We are so incredibly blessed and we love them with everything that we have and more. I have posted some pictures from the last 6 days. Hope you enjoy them!
Dad getting ready in his bunny suit with Grampa
Fresh out of the oven
Jacob on the left, Joshua on the right. They wear these hats everyday, its the easy way for us to tell them apart.

Joshua wide awake
Tummy time, they were trying to eat each other
Much nicer picture. They really do love each other. It was fun to watch them interact next to each other like this. They weren't sure what to think.
This is where they sleep. They love it
Happy Valentine's Day in their own valentine's outfits.
snuggled up on my daddy
proud daddy. He is an AMAZING daddy already. It's unbelievable to watch him
Grampa with his GT grandson. He can hold his own bottle already :)
Proud Grammie :)
Just for kicks, this was me before we left for the hospital.
