Jasper and the big fish

10:23 pm CDT March 20, 2009
Well, here we are, back in the hospital. His nec cultures are -! Yeah! Stool is still testing + for blood. Jasper is also having frequent apnea spells, so he is not breathing and his oxygen saturation is going into the 60's. With that he is getting some oxygen. That is keeping his oxygen saturation up.

Today he had a picc line put in. This is so they won't have to keep poking him if they need to get blood, and also since he is still on bowel rest, they can give him calories, nutrients etc through this. (peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC or PIC line) is a form of intravenous access that can be used for a prolonged period of time A PICC is inserted in a peripheral vein, such as the cephalic vein, basilic vein, or brachial vein and then advanced through increasingly larger veins, toward the heart until the tip rests in the distal superior vena cava or cavoatrial junction.)

Our short term goals- get nutrition into Jasper- possibly get a sleep study to further study the apnea spells.
