We didn't have surgery today. Jasper is now on a NEC watch

"Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is the most common gastrointestinal emergency in the premature infant"

Jasper is not premature, yes, 10% of affected patients are born at term. Treatment should be undertaken without delay as soon as NEC is suspected:

so surgery is postponed due to a Jasper possible having this in the meantime, feeds through the intestine are stopped to give his bowels a rest, as well as meds through his gjtube.

We will be in the icu for at least a week. Today was a long day. We hope tomorrow is better.
