One little step back

9:37 pm CST December 14, 2008
Jasper has been having episodes where his heart beat races up a bit. It usually lasts about 20 min and then goes back to normal... its called SVT. Today (Sunday), it happened several times and the last one lasted almost an hour, so we left the comfort of our well earned private room and got wheeled back over to the CICU. ************************************************* Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is an abnormal fast heart rhythm that starts in the upper chambers, or the atria, of the heart. ("Supraventricular" means above the ventricles, "tachy" means fast, and "cardia" means heart.) ********************************************* So they started some new meds, Digoxin, which he will be on for some time, to help with that. Otherwise, he is just being fed, gaining weight, and sleeping. And mostly loves being held by mom and dad for hours on end, observing everything around him with those beautiful, curious eyes. He is such a sweet good natured baby. We are so lucky. It looks like we will be in the hospital 1-2 weeks. We were hoping to bring him home for Christmas, but we just want our baby to be as healthy as he can be, so we will wait until he is ready to come home. ************************************************************** After being successfully diagnosed and treated, Bobby Julich went on to place third in the 1998 Tour de France and win a Bronze Medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics.[3] Women's Olympic volleyball player Tayyiba Haneef-Park underwent an ablation for SVT just two months before competing in the 2008 Summer Olympics.[4] Tony Blair, former PM of the UK, was also operated on for SVT.

We took a walk around the floor for 5 minutes off the monitors for 5 minutes in the stroller.

Oh so sweet!
